Castiel stared at Uriel in shock, saying only, "You?"
"I'm afraid so." Uriel replied, confirming to Castiel what he needed to know.
"You broke the Devil's Trap and set Alastair on Dean?"
"Alastair should have never been taken alive. Very inconvenient, Cas. I did turn the screw a little. Alastair should've killed Dean and you would've gone on scapegoating demons."
"You do realize that Amanda could have been killed as well? That's your second offense against her life."
"I could care less what happens to that stupid, insolent mortal. Besides, she'll have to suffer more now that someone she loves is dead."
"You…you murdered her sister? How could you?"
"I never said I killed her sister. It was someone else she was close with."
"It doesn't matter. You've murdered her friend and our kin."
"Our kin, no. My work is conversion. How long have we waited and played this game? The rules make no sense."
   "This is our father's world."
"Our father stopped being that, if he ever was, the moment he created humanity. They're spinning, puking larva."
"Are you trying to convert me, Uriel. It won't work. You forget that I made a promise to Amanda."
"What promise? As far as I'm concerned, you're her friend and the closest one she has. Imagine how sad she'll be when she learns that you died because you didn't choose to help raise out brother."
   "Lucifer."
"You remember him." Uriel said, walking past Castiel, "How beautiful and strong he was. He never bowed down to humanity. He defended us. If you need to believe in something, believe in him."
   "Lucifer is not God."
"God doesn't care what we do and I'm proof of that."
"He will care that you've killed an innocent human. Amanda's lost enough, Uriel. Don't make her suffer anymore."
Uriel looked at Castiel and said, "The rumors are partially true. You do love her, but you love her as if she were one of us. Please, Castiel, forget about her. Help me spread the word and bring on the Apocalypse. All you need to do…is be unafraid."
Castiel thought for a moment and said, "For the first time, in a long time, I am."
Uriel smiled, believing that Castiel had chosen to join him. However, Castiel shoved Uriel into the brick wall behind him, the angel throwing a brick down as he got up. Uriel punched Castiel, but Castiel retaliated with a couple of punches of his own. Grabbing his trench coat, Uriel threw Castiel against a wooden beam, breaking it in half. Castiel got up and walked back to Uriel, spitting blood out of his mouth. He punched Uriel two times, sending him back. Uriel supported himself on some metal, grabbing a metal pole and hitting Castiel in the face, sending the angel down to the ground.
"You can't win, Uriel." Castiel said, Uriel dropping the metal rod and placing his hand on Castiel's shoulder, "I still serve God."
"You've never met the man!" Uriel screamed, "There is no will…"
   He punched Castiel.
   "No wrath…"
   A second punch.
   "No God."
Before a third punch could be delivered, Anna drove Uriel's angel blade into his neck, shocking Castiel.
"Maybe, maybe not." Anna said, her voice in a harsh whisper, "There is still me."
She pulled the blade out of Uriel's neck, the angel collapsing onto the floor. Anna walked over to Castiel, the two watching as a bright light enveloped them, leaving the body of Uriel's vessel and angel wings burned into the floor. Castiel simply looked at Anna.

At the hospital, the following day, Dean woke up, Castiel asking, "You all right?"
Dean looked at the angel and replied in a weak voice, "No thanks to you."
Castiel shifted in his seat a little then said, "You need to be careful."
"You need to learn to manage a Devil's Trap."
   "That's not what I meant. Uriel's dead."
   "Demons?"
"Disobedience. He was working against us."
Dean was silent for a moment before asking, "Is it true? Did I start all of this?"
"Yes. Once we discovered what Lilith planned for you, we laid siege to Hell and fought our way to get to you. We were too late."
"Why didn't you leave me there then?"
"It isn't blame that falls on you, Dean. It's destiny. The righteous man who begins it is the one who must end it."
"Lucifer…and the Apocalypse? What does that mean?"
Castiel didn't look at Dean, who yelled, "Don't disappear on me, you son of a bitch. What does that mean?!"
   "I don't know." Castiel replied.
   "Bull!"
"I don't. They don't tell me that much, Dean. But I do know our fate rests with you."
"Then you guys are screwed. I can't do it, Cas. It's just too big. Alastair was right. I'm not the man that either of our fathers wanted us to be. Find someone else."
Castiel looked at Dean, then looked away. Dean then shed a tear, forcing back all of the pain he was feeling.

*One Month Later*

Dean by now was out of the hospital, but Amanda was still in Cheyenne recovering from her own injuries. She had been in the hospital for a whole month and was close to being released.
"You're recovering splendidly, Ms. Townes." a doctor told her, looking at the most recent x-rays of her ribs, "I'd say another week and you should be clear for release."
"Thank you." Amanda replied, the doctor leaving the room. A moment later, Castiel entered, surprising her, "Hey, Cas. IS everything okay?"
"Yes and no." the angel answered, sitting next to her, "Uriel is dead."
   "About freaking time."
"And…one of your friends is dead."
Amanda looked at Castiel, shock on her face, "Who was killed?"
"I believe it's your friend, Natalie. She was visiting your sister when Uriel appeared and tried to murder your sister. Natalie got in the way and died instead."
Unable to believe what she had just heard, Amanda forced back her tears and asked, "Why is all of this happening to me? First Dad, then Mom, now Natalie? This is why I don't put my faith in God! He's making me suffer when I haven't done anything wrong!"
Castiel didn't answer, but said, "He's not making you suffer, Amanda. Death is a part of life and the natural order. You need death in order to have life."
"But I've lost three people in eighteen years. God obviously hates me."
"He doesn't hate you. Perhaps he's trying to teach you something."
   "Like what?!"
"That the people you depend on won't always be there for you. You need to mature and learn how to move on."
Amanda didn't look at Castiel, but said, "It's not that easy. Dealing with death since you're a child is kinda hard."
"I know that you've told me what happened to your parents, but you've never really gone into detail about it. Maybe if you went into detail, I might be able to understand more."
"Let me guess, another round of "20 Questions"?"
"If you want to put it that way, yes."
"Cas…I hate you sometimes. The only problem is where to start."
   "Start from the beginning."
   "As in me-being-born beginning?"
   "Yes."
"Great. Life story, part deux, here we go."
Well, this ends "On the Head of A Pin" and somewhat starts "The Monster At the End of This Book". It won't be until next chapter that the episode will officially begin, so until then you'll have to put up with some overused Castiel and Amanda time.
