Once again, disaster strikes
Not in a natural way, but man-made
Explosions shake the city of Boston
Two people dying needlessly once again

All that goes through my mind is “how many times will this happen?”
Haven’t enough people died in the last year?
Whatever happened to doing something, Congress?
You’re letting your nation down

These tragedies should open our eyes as a country
But instead, we forget and move on with life
Let me tell you something, America
I haven’t forgotten all of those people lost

I haven’t forgotten the children and teachers slain in Newtown
The moviegoers killed in Aurora, Colorado
The Muslims senselessly massacred in Wisconsin
Or even the tragedies here in my home state

How many more people must lose their lives for action to be taken?
Ten? Fifty? One hundred?
Will they be women? Children? Or our soldiers fighting overseas?
For me, this tragedy in Boston is the final straw

I’m going to keep making my opinions on these tragedies known
I have a voice and I’m damn well going to use it
These events should stop happening, no matter what it takes
If not, more people will die a needless, senseless death
In response to the Boston Marathon bombings, this is a poem expressing my anger and confusion over events like this. They are pointless to me and I feel that they should stop before more innocents are caught in the crossfire.

My friend, that is a magnificent statement you wrote there, and I agree to it very much! We need more understanding people like you in this country!
